Stans w/cross tires(2 posts)

Has anyone tried going the notubes route w/cross tires? I realize there are no rim strips available, but has anyone used the home-brew/ghetto version? Seems like it would be great so I know it can't be an original thought. Is there a reason it wouldn't work?

I haven't tried it (I really like Stan's on my MTB -- even though I did have a hole that wouldn't seal last ride and had to bum a tube off a buddy...) but did notice that he's now offering rimstrips for 29'er mountain bikes, so it may not take much cobbling together to make it work.

I'd send them an e-mail, asking if they've got any experience with anyone using the system for low-pressure 'cross tires.

Of course, the easiest route -- and probably cheapest -- if you wanted tubeless benefits on clincher rims would be to go with the Tufo Tubular Clinchers. Same benefits as going with the Stan's system, with MUCH less mess and fuss.

Cheers!
