|Has anyone tried putting cross tires on a track bike? Specifically the Bianchi Pista? I was thinking of throwing on my Titec 118 handlebar and some cross tires to try and see how I like it, but thinking there might not be enough tire clearance for anything other than road tires. Any suggestions? Other than I should have gotten an Il Pompino...
Here are some pics of the bike, you can see the tire clearance in some of them :: http://www.fatboydeluxe.com/~david/bike/bikes/bianchi/ :: thanks!

|these might work:
they're pretty skinny. i have a pair you could try if you're in the norcal area. a word of caution with those tires, though. they have considerably less traction than a lot of other cx tires. they are terrible in dusty conditions. well, maybe not terrible, exactly. they did force me to get comfortable with the two-wheel drift...

|I've gone through the last two or three winters with Vittoria Mastercross tires on my fixed gear. They fit -- just barely -- under the fork crown (a fairly low-clearance Fondriest aluminum fork). Like Jakob, I'm not a huge fan of the tread on these, which wears very quickly on the road, and doesn't make a whole lot of difference off-road while it's still there. I used them mainly to smooth out the ride a little. I haven't ever tried the Vittoria Tigre tread pattern, so that might work a little better off-pavement, though I'd imagine it would disappear even faster.
You might also be able to get an old-school narrow 'cross tubular in there, and nice 27c tubular tires like the old Clement Grifo Neve go for a song on Ebay these days. Of course, that's a bit more of a commitment...
