I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is planning a nice social ride in the Northern Va area this weekend. I just bought a Cross bike and I'm tired of riding the same streets.
Let me know
Thanks

Do a google search for Potomac Peddlers (sp?). They're about the most social of the riding clubs/etc. in the DC area.

Here's their web site: http://www.bikepptc.org/.

Depending on where you live, the W & OD is a nice place to ride. Much of the trail also has adjacent horse trails, so you'll feel right at home on your cross bike. Just watch for horses :-)

OK, so it's not actually Northern Virginny, but you can see it from there...

The towpath is great for a cyclocross bike. Very pretty views, but go early as it tends to get thick with joggers from late morning on in the weekends.

I also take my 'cross bike out to Wakefield/Accotink a fair amount. Some of the singletrack is challenging on skinny tires, but nothing outrageous, and you can even avoid that if you prefer.

Cheers!

There is also a social group of riders called the DCAMB (DC Area Mountain Bikers). Between them and MORE (Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts), you can ride almost everynight during the week and every weekend...
