Bar Ends or STI levers?TXDV

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm curious about the pros and cons of bar end shifters vs. STI/Ergo levers specifically for cross racing. Opinions? thanks.

bar cons: cheap, reliable and lighter, but less convenient.
STI: expensive, even more expensive to replace them, will go to crap in the mud. easy to shift.
Ergo: very expensive, merely expensive when you rebuild them, will NOT go to crap in the mud, easy to shift ... and have more style than STI.

one can use bar cons with Kelly take-offs which place the bar-cons right next to the brake levers.

see my earlier posts. STI is too costly for it's reliability IMHO.
if you run Shimano and are on a budget, barcons.

I run shimano running gear with campy mirage levers. perfect for what I do. Bar cons are great trouble free shifters but I like staying on the hoods as much as possible and can also shift and brake at the same time.
