i might be purchasing a parts kit off of www.cyclocrossworld.com and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the 105 part kit. i'm not looking to spend a lot of money, but i'd like to get decent components. what are everyone's opinions on the kit found here

If you are looking at the 105 kit, you may want to consider the Ultegra build from Excel for less than $100 more. http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?page=8&description=Ultegra+Build+Kit+Cross&vendorCode=SHIM&major=8&minor=1
Good luck,

I can't comment on a lot of the gear listed, but personally, I'd swap out the STI for barcons and levers. Cheaper, lighter, more durable. I've had them since day-1 and I can't complain. But I guess it depends on your preference, what kind of riding you do and in what conditions...

STI's get expensive to replace and are unrepairable. If starting from scratch the 105 get the Centaur . I'd run campy if I was building new but I Frankenbiked with old MTB/Road etc...

I like STI... but that's my personal thing... Definitely not the cheapest or smartest thing to do... But it's my carry over from my road biking days....

I can honestly say that I have dropped my CX a few times (since I bought it this May) & the bar cons survived.
Before bar cons, I had down tube shifters & never used STI, but I dropped & crashed that bike quite a few times as well, more drops than crashes. On both bikes, the impact scratches show up on the brake levers. I'd hate to imagine what would happen to the STI levers.
Then again, it would be nice to try STI on a long term basis. Perhaps, I would see things differently & take the good with the bad.

but a 900 square foot house in my neighborhood goes for $400K. I can't be blowing 180 bones everytime I crash. Mortgage is MURDER, I need a sponsor!!!!!
