Does Specialized still make a cross bike? NMTrevo

When I get a job in the shop not far from my new house I have the choice of a Lemond,Trek,Surly, or Specialized cyclocross bike.

Right now its looking like Surly, but Lemond is next in line

I do not believe that Specialized makes a CX bike any more, not since 2001. I do know that you can get a CX frame ONLY from Giant (if you have a preference for Giant), sloping geometry & all.

Look at the Fuji's. I picked one up for my wife for 950.00 and it rocks. Lemond/ Trek comes with crap components and like the Surly, weighs a ton. Fuji comes with total 105 and is race ready, carbon fork and all. Ck on Ebay, there have been some Specialized 2002 models on there. They are really nice, but still, I'd ck out the Fuji if looking for a total rig.

Where else can you get a bombproof frame with massive 47c plus tire clerance in a complete bike weighting 24 pounds?
I dont race, I thrash, and 24 pounds of bike costing 900 bucks is one hell of a deal! Throw on some lighter parts, and its 22 pounds!

And the cost of a COMPLETE SURLY CROSSCHECK IS 600 dollars....IE if I work in a shop thats how much I pay!
Cheers fellas!
Another choice you will have is SalsaCoolhand

The new Salsa Scandium frames for cross are stunning- very light weight and a really good deal. They are carried by Quality Bike Products which every decent shop has an account with. They also do a pro deal on these frames for shop employees. I would have got one myself, but no 60 cm's were made (despite what the catalog says- sigh).

Also Redline frames are pretty good deals, and not so heavy. Surly are quite, ummm, beefy. Lemonds are nice, but can have fitting issues for some riders- try before your buy.

Coolhand (who got a clearance Redline Conquest frame and fork for a really, really good deal- via la clearance deals!)
