6'6" guy needs a cyclo-cross bikefingdog

I have had a very tough time finding a bike manufacturer that makes cyclo-cross frames big enough for a 6'6" guy. Does anyone have a suggestion where I could find a nice cyclo-cross bike for around $1000 that would fit me? The largest I can find is a 61 cm frame from Bianchi (Axis) and Fuji (Cross). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

at 6'6" a 61 should be fine, that's a 63 or so in roadie terms. I'm just shy of 6'5" and I ride 58STx59TT's. Are you super leggy? There are some 2001 60 cm Specialized S-Works selling on the net that should fit as well. IS your inseam 36" plus? if not a 59-61 will do ya fine.

I'm 6'6" as well and own a 63cm Empella. It fits great. I had a 61cm Bianchi (steel not the Axis) before and found it OK but on the small side (lots of spacers and post). Cyclocross world doesn't stock very many of the large Empellas, I contacted them just before they received thier shipment of frames this past fall and they told me they were getting 1! matte black frame. I bought it immediatly (didn't check on qty of Spaar frames). Ridley makes a large 64cm bike but with a shorter TT (Cyclocross world didn't have any in stock either). If interested I bought a Ridley road frame (66cm!) from a dealer in the Netherlands I can give you his contact information (he will even get it in any of Ridley's paint options). has the geometry and frame info.

Do you currently have a road bike? Those measurements would help in deciding.

Peter Derks is his name his site is:

Super guy I was so impressed by his service and promptness but, be advised he cannot accept Credit Cards.

I don't know of any other US Empella dealers.

Cannondale's 60 might fit well as another option. Don't be afraid of the others they would fit- if you want I can email a photo of my Bianchi so you can get an idea of the setup.
