Which front derailluer for a Surly Cross Check?cyclochip

Hello all...

I've had front derailluer shifting issues for as long as I've had my Cross Check. I can't use the shifter to get onto the big ring. Unfortunately, I have to manually do it anytime I want to ride in the big gear.
I seem to remember some discussion on this board about the setup Surly spec'd for the complete bike. Something about it being incompatable... I know both I and the head wrench at my local shop have tried everything we can think of to no avail.

So, if buying new parts can remedy this, I'm all for it.

Cureent setup is:

Bar end shifter
Tiagra front derailluer
QBP 48t and 36t Engagement Rings

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might replace to get it shifting properly?

I have a Surly with a 48-36-26 triple and the Tiagra front der / bar end shifters. It took a little bit of positioning trial and error but it goes on all the rings without problems now. Keep on trying.

Ditch the double and put on a single 40 or 42 ring with a chainguard and 3rd eye chain watcher. You won't be sorry. I have this set up on my Surly Cross Check and love it for training and racing cross. Good Luck
