wheel gurus, I'm planning on a wheel build using old-style tubular rims (Fiamme Red Labels, ~350g). is 28 holes 3x going to be enough (9s drivetrain), or should I go for 36? (can't seem to find very many 32h rims).

28 should be dandy. Perfect for you. You might be able to go 2x up front.
I think so...Steve_O

I'm running a 3x 28h Velocity AeroHead clincher (400 gms) as a front wheel with no problems. I go 195 lbs. Back wheel is 3x 32h Velocity Deep V which is has proven to be bulletproof (abeit a little heavy at 520 gms for the rim).
