new fork?(3 posts)

new fork?Major Kong

I have a 2000 Redline Conquest Pro and was thinking about buying a nice steel fork (IF?) to improve the ride because I also use as my commuter. The ride is fairly harsh with road tires (especially on Boston streets). Is it worth it to mate a nice fork with a Taiwanese frame? or should I just save my money for a better frame. Thanks in advance.

makes sense to me. a rather cheap way to do it as well. there are a lot of cx mfrs that will build you a fork maybe cheaper than IF. check previous posts.
how about new tires?bk19

You didn't say what size tires you are using, but if you are using smaller standard road size (20c-25c), try going bigger (28c-30c). The larger size and lower air pressure should give you a softer ride. I would give this a try first ($30-$60), then drop the bigger cash on a better fork if that doesn't do it for ya'(~$200).
