|This article on disk brakes and issues with QR skewers was posted over on MTBr.com. If mountain bikes with beefy forks and dropouts are having issues with QR skewers not holding up to disk brake forces then I wonder what the implications are for cyclocross and touring bikes?

|Hey Steve, I've been running discs on my cross bike for several years now. In over 3000 miles I've had zero QR issues with them. I've also been running discs on my MTB for years and no problems there either.
Some may remember in the way back when suspension forks were introduced and a similar rumor ran around regarding skewer problems. Not much ever came of that except that heavier guys shouldn't run Ti skewers with their suspension forks. I'm pretty skeptical that there is any problem except maybe with ultra-ultralight skewers. Shimano seems to error on the safe side in almost all cases so that they don't have to do recalls.
For what it's worth here's what I'm running:
American classic hubs and skewers
Steel frame and fork
