Top Mount Lever Installation ?(6 posts)

Top Mount Lever Installation ?crosstrail

Opened up a new package of Tektro top mount brake levers last night. Instructions say that there must be a continuous cable housing from the lever to the rear brake. It then shows an adaptor to attach to the stops for the brake housing on the top tube.

Is that really necessary? Or will it work OK with the 2 piece housing already on the bike?

Thanks for your help.

Rode into work today with the top mount Tektro levers installed (pulling XT V-brakes with travel agents). The front brake felt about the same from both the road and the top mount levers. The rear brake felt different, a little more spongy, from both both levers, but OK. Should work fine.

Thanks for your help.
