| Surly pics | Captain Kona Mar 21, 2003 8:53 AM | | Hello.
I'm interested in buying a Surly Cross-Check frame. I'd love to see proud pictures of your complete Surly's.
What do you like about it? What do you dislike? |

That was about 2 days after I got it, it's bone stock there. It's undergone several changes since. I'll post a current picture tonight.
I LOVE that bike. If I had to get rid of all but one, that's the one I'd keep. It's a ton of fun to ride.
I ride it on the road and the trails. I did the Ampitheater Of Pain cyclocross series (Memphis, TN) on it, and raced in NW Arkansas in a MTB race. I plan on doing several more MTB races on it this year.
The only problem I've had out of it is that the front der. has a very hard time going up on to the big ring. It usually takes about 2-3 tries to get it up on there. I've read this is a common problem, due to the front der. / big ring parts spec. I just haven't gotten around to changing it yet. |

Changes from the previous pictures include a new Salsa stem, Specialized top mount levers, Tektro Oryx brakes, 105 / MA3 wheels, and a Specialized BG seat. |
| re: Surly pics | HeavyD Mar 23, 2003 12:07 AM | | I know longer have this bike but here is what my Surly did look like. |
| Another view | HeavyD Mar 23, 2003 12:12 AM | | This was my Surly in commuter cloths. I also had a problem with front shifting but switching to rings with ramps and pins was my fix. The Race Face setup worked very well for me. |
| re: Surly pics | Jakob Mar 24, 2003 8:19 AM | | Here's mine. It's a Y2k Crosscheck with the 631 front triangle. My only gripe is the weight, but otherwise I love it's durability, versatility, looks, everything.
It's funny. My wife and I have had many pretty nice bikes but this one is absolutely the one that has gotten the most attention from other cyclists.
I have had it set up to race cross, ride singletrack with a flat bar, tour, and now it's a singlespeed. |
| is that a factory paint job/color? Nice! -nm | SmogRider Mar 27, 2003 10:27 AM | | |
