|Alpine Designs, as they say in their ads, is a small frame builder in the Idaho panhandle. I bought a used bike from Toby, the owner, which bears the 'Alpine Design' name but I think it was before they completetly built the frames in-house. (I LOVE this frame, by the way).
I really don't know anything about the Cross Boss in particular, but I do know that you could probably take advantage of getting a small name quality handbuilt frame at a good price. I know Toby was super excited to be getting things going and had occasionally e-mailed pictures of some of his projects.
If you have any doubts, give Toby a call. Perhaps order a custom frame for a few bucks more than what you would get on ebay, and have the ride of your life at a sweet price.
My frame is a bit different I'm sure, but I really like it - light, responsive, steel! And, as an added bonus, it doesn't say 'Trek' or 'C-dale' on the downtube, which I also like.

|They use True Temper Verus 4130 for the main triangle (Don't know how different it is from vanilla 4130 like Surly uses) and Zona for the rear triangle. I e-mailed them and the price is very competitive for a fillet brazed frame, specially since they include free shipping right now til April.
Like rockbender says, e-mail them (They replied really fast) for geometry and pictures of the frame (Looks very pretty)
