Redwood CX Series Finals, 3/15, Humboldt, CABig-foot

The last race of the Redwood Cyclocross Series is March 15 at the Almquist Lumber Mill in Arcata. This race is a bit different, we run the course around the mill grounds, through one of the buildings, and onto the singletrack trails between the mill and the Mad River. While we have a bunch of regulation 16" barriers we also use a few redwood logs just for fun. It's kinda cool....Eric Almquist (the mill owner) gets on the lift and asks "Hey, where you want this 6 ton log?"

The series championships are still up for grabs in all categories, and the finals have a bonus points structure to make things a bit more interesting. At the end of the day we tally the points, hand out the championship plaques, raffle off the schwag, tap the keg of Bigfoot Pale Ale, light the BBQ and have a few grins!

Thanks to all who have attended the series, and special thanks to all of our sponsors: Revolution Bicycles, Intense Tires, Rock N Roll Lube, Specialized, Surly, Almquist Lumber, Figueredo's Video, Zeal Optics, SDG Saddles, Mello Automotive, and to all who have pitched in and helped out.

Pic is of some of the freeride boys who did the 30-minute race last year. It was a bit wet that day, in fact, it snowed in the morning! You never know what the weather will do on the North Coast in late winter!

If you were among those who unfairly and unjustly got pulled early at the Napa Nationals, you get a free entry at the Redwood CX Finals. Just bring your Napa number plate, tell the nice lady at sign-up what those mean old Napa officials did to you (cross your heart and hope to die) and your entry is free, gratis, no charge.

This pic is of last year's winner, Jude Stromberg. Jude's a fireman now and hasta work Saturdays. Too bad. We miss him.
