Race #4 of the 5-race Redwood Cyclocross series is being held at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds in Eureka, right smack dab in the middle of beautiful Humboldt County, CA. The 1-mile course uses the 3/8-mile paved speedway and the dirt infield, plus some grassy slopes surrounding the speedway. Good stuff!

The Redwood CX Series Finals is March 15 at the Almquist Lumber Mill in Arcata. That 1-mile course runs all around the mill grounds, through one of the buildings, and onto the singletrack trails between the mill and the Mad River. The Finals is double points and at the end of the day we raffle off all the schwag (CX tires from Vredestein, XC tires from Intense, saddles from Specialized, lube from Rock N Roll, t-shirts from Surly, and lotsa stuff from local businesses) spark up the BBQ and tap the keg 'o Bigfoot Pale Ale from Mad River Brewery.

For info visit www.teambigfoot.net, for driving directions e-mail teambigfoot@excite.com or call (707) 845-3095.

Photo is of series leader Tim Wykle, from race #1 of the series, also at Redwood Acres.

If you were among those who were unfairly and unjustly pulled out early at the Napa Nats, bring your numberplate to either the Redwood Acres CX, Feb. 22, or the Redwood CX Series Finals, March 15, tell the nice girls at sign-up the story of the mean ol' Napa race official (cross your heart and hope to die) and your entry is gratis, comped, free, you don't pay!

Pic is from the 2002 St. Patrick's Day Massacre held on the same course as this year's Redwood CX Series Finals. That's the 1-hour winner, Jude Stromberg.

I already tossed that number in disgust.

Can I bring a printout of the results that has me listed as a DNF?

Last year we had a little dusting the morning of the St. Patrick's Day Massacre. Didn't stick though. That looks like fun. Cue up Paul Simon..."Slip sliding away...."

Yeah, that was a great week. I raced the last wintercup in North Carolina the weekend before. 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and then our race with the 1-2 inches. It is really fun riding in the snow. But EVERYONE had trouble clipping in after a while. Even the time and eggbeaters folks, although they had minor problems compared to the rest of us.

There are a bunch more photos and a report at:
