I am seraching for opinions regarding the various tapes/dvds from past CX World Championships. I am looking for a tape that remains interesting after multiple viewings and that is a good motivator for watching while riding rollers. Thanks. DK

In my humble opinion:
WCP's 96-97 CX World's tape is one of my favorites, first the course in Montreuil, France ends up with 39 year-old Van der Poel winning in a three-man sprint (Pontoni and Bramati), the course is interesting (fast, twisty and wet) and the cameras are all over the course. Same with the following segment, the 97 World's in Munich, won by Pontoni. The course is awesome, sloppy with some great crashes in a super-tricky off-camber section. Commentary by Sherwen and Liggett is pretty good.
The 2000 World's tape (Sint-Michielsgestel) is a close second for me, the action is well filmed and commentary is very accurate, especially given the tactic situation going on in the race (Nijs and DeClerq get into it while racing because of trade-teams vs. country team issues).
The 98/99 Cx Worlds tape is a ripoff, taped right off the Eurosport channel with zero editing, it must have cost 3 bucks to produce, especially the Poprad race: 1st there's like one camera stuck in the snow for the whole race, then the commentary is by some British dude who is at times absolutely unintelligible to anyone but another Brit - from the same region - plus the guy is annoyingly ignorant ("And the young Matt Kelly from Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa" - I'm not making this up!). At least the 98 segment (Middlefahrt, Denmark) is awesome, but the commentary I think is by some other dude and he's kind of boring. But the race action, the under 23 race with Nijs bunny-hopping a set of 3 barriers in slow-mo is well worth it.

Happy trainer time, hope this helps in your choice.

Sorry but I have to disargree, the 98 - 99 is one of my favs, even though the quality is low watching Matt kelly and Tim Johnson rip is great, and that last lap comeback by de clerq to chump his countryman is sweet.
THANKS - I ordered 96-97 and 2000. nmDavidK
