Dirt Drops, yeah!hummu

Got out for the first ride on the Dirt Drops. First impressions? Yess!

I actually made quite a few changes for today"s ride. Five to be exact.

The most obvious is the WTB Dirt Drop handle bar. What can I say. Just look at it. I felt very comfortable on it from the start. Easy braking from the hoods and from the drops. Always felt in good control. Oh, except in one transition from the hoods to the drops. I forgot and went to put my hands where a regular drop bar would be. Grabbed air. That was a potentially dangerous situation.

Along with the bars was a longer stem (1 cm) with a rise.

Rear shifting is being handled by an Ergo shifter. Was told at the time of purchase that it is a Chorus, but who can tell? Front shifting is by a Suntour Power Ratchet barcon. Must remember granny gear.

Front brake is controlled by an old eighties 105 SLR lever. This one has the big, obvious return spring visable and just seems more solid (heavier?) than the RSXs I had on there before. And it doesn't rattle. Yay!

Rear derailleur is an eight speed Chorus(?).

Wow! This bike rides great. I don't know if the Kenda tires are particularily supple, but the bike felt very comfy. Maybe it just fits good. Brakes are great and I have salmon Kool Stops to fit into the Mafac Racer centre pull brakes to make them even better. This is going to be a fun bike.

I have been using the WTB dropbars since 1992 and the bar still holding up. I bought it at LBS in Ukiah, Ca. I installed this bar on my mtb, cyclocross and now is on my fixed gear.
