I am currently running some cheap old Shimano (non-STI) levers and Avid Shorties on my SS CX bike. Stopping power is good and no squealing. However, there isn't a lot of clearance between the rim and pads. Wondering if switching to the Dia-Compe 987V's (which are suppose to pull more cable) will allow me to set the pads further out for more mud clearance.
