|I got it mainly for commuting/groceries/cruisin' but I'm figuring I might try cross racing.
My question is do I keep the 105 brake/shift levers or go with bar ends?
I can imagine that the bar ends may be a little inconveniently positioned compared to brake/shift levers especially in race situations, but I can also imagine that the mechanism may get clogged with mud and dirt fairly quickly.
Which style do you have? What would you recomend?

|just kidding. keep the shifters; most people in MI use integrated shifters (and most of those are Shimano).|

|Campy wears in. Shimano wears out.|

|If you're mainly using it for road rides, definitely keep the 105s. The shifting is a lot easier IMO. Ride them 'til the break and then decide if you want something different.|

|unless you have a roadie that could use the shifters, use them 'til they die. then go bar cons. yes STI's die in mud|

|Sti shifter/brake levers limit what brakes you can use. Theyll allow cantis and mini V's but you cant use a full sized V brake by itself without using a agent or rollamagig and the results arent great.
Also the shfters/brakelevers limit what cranksets you can use. If you want a triple you can barney um but they wont work too well. Also Sti is real uncomfortable in the dirt.
Im using a full LX drivetrain using Kelly takeoffs for shifters.

|I think for the time being I'm going to keep it the way it is. I don't feel like puting any more money into this thing. I've got other expenses right now.
I am interested in trying a cross race though.
