Now that we know it will be wet and muddy, and what the course generally looks like, what are your picks for Nationals?

Women - Carmen
Men - Gully
u-23 - Adam Craig, Genest
junior - Anthony, no clue
collegiate, no clue, Maher

and I'm going to pick a couple of masters because its my honey and one of my teammates:

Men 35-39 - Alan Coats
Women 35-39 - Shelly Whisenhant (if we can convice her not to run 60+ psi clinchers on a muddy course!)

I agree with your picks add:
Ryan Leech to Collegiate
40-44 will be Gunnar Shogren

is Gunner in the 40-44? Last year he was 35-39. That would make Alan happy, not that he's worried or anything.
Not 100% sure...Wayne

but I think I've heard people say he was 40 this year.

Is definitely a geezer in the 40-44.

good to know. He was the closest challenge to Alan last year. NOt that he's worried or anything....

He crashed 3 times in Baltimore because his glasses were covered with mud.

lots of people crashed. Regardless of reasons, crashing was what a lot of people did on that slippery course. Me included. Wish I could blame it on my glasses, but I switched to contacts.

I don't worry about racing against him because he is 10 years younger than me.Oh,and he's also 2.5 times faster than me:)

I just learned that Ben J-M will be racing collegiate Nationals. He's now my pick for that title.

Well with the news from Sabine I'm picking Ben J/M for collegiate. For the mens I'm going for the upset, Justin Robinson. Plus if he wins I'll look really cool. Masters, Rich Maile.

I'm going with Paige if he races. something about all that Euro racing I think is going to change him. Gully if it's muddy. Craig in the U-23 is a great pick. There's a kid on the Devo team. Perry Paolini is a threat in the Jrs. Alan (regardless of bias) is going to be tough. Sabine, better have him keep an eye on Mark Noble (ex Olympic Pursuit Medalist) and quite the threat. Carmen, but am going to pull for dark horse semi local McConnolug.

Alan and Mark are good friends. Mark beat Alan at last week's Redline. But that course was very dry. The only bad race I saw from Mark this year (if you call 3rd place bad), was the muddy Surf City race. That SoCal boy couldn't handle the course as well under those conditions.

Alan really likes that Perry kid. Something happened to him at Redline.

With the one-two Clif Bar punch of Carmen and Gina, its going to be hard for anyone else.

Gully in the elites with Paige and Wells there too.

Hall in the women (becasue she smiles when she is racing)

dennis farrel in the masters
zak garzawski (sp?) in the juniors
(because they are from colorado)

craig or wicks in the u23

yes Alan is quite the mudder from what I've heard. I'll bet with him anytime in adverse conditions. I had the privilege to see him race here in Sandy Eggo. Did you come with him to the Oceanside Race? He was damn strong. I was saddened to not see him racing in the State Champs down here 2 weeks ago but there was probably a better race up in NorCal. RE: The Perry kid. After Alan raced (and won) masters, he took a 45 minute break and raced elites. The best battle in that race was between him and the Perry kid. was quite exciting. wish him luck.
