|Dura-Ace rear derailleurs, as Shimano's telling me in the instructions as well as on a little sticker applied to the shifter? This was news to me..
If so, what other choices are there for 9-sp barcons?

|According to the matrix in the 2002 Shimano print catalogue, Ultegra and 105 (and presumably XT/XTR, etc.) are compatible with the Dura-Ace barcons (SL-BS77). I don't know why they still have all the "Dura-Ace only" verbiage; I thought they'd given that up when they went to 9-sp. Sounds like you'll just have to give them a try.
It's rubbish like this that led me to stick with 8-sp as much as possible....

|I am currently running Ultegra / Dura Ace barcons with a 9sp Shimano XT rear derailleur, 34 tooth XT cassette and 39/53 gears up front. I have also previously run 105 flight deck shifters with XTR 8spd front, XT rear and a XTR 34 tooth cassette . Barcons can also run in friction mode if needed. My understanding is that all 9sp Shimano is compatible, heck - Dura Ace & XTR use the same chain per Shimano's web site.

|No. You can use any 9s Shimano rear derailleur with any 9s Shimano shifter. You can also use any 9s cassette including Campy.|

|running 9sp D/A bar Cons to XTR derailleurs and 8sp D/A Vbarcons to XT/XTR mix. Not a problem, haven't had a shifting error yet.|
