Does anyone know where I can get spikes for my Sidi shoes? I am having a hard time looking for them in the popular catalogs. Do football or soccer spikes fit?

Excel and cyclocrossworld.com and Performance have them.

Baseball and soccer cleats work well, though you will probably have to chew away some of the tread on the shoes to make them seat properly.

I have used soccer cleats before and they fit just fine. I think you can go to a Sportsmart or some place like that to find what you need. Also, the cleats come in different lengths; I'm using 1/2 in. cleats but they make a 5/8 in., too.

While you can probably get soccer cleats at any Sports Authority type place (and they do fit Sidis), I usually go to a local soccer/rugby specialty shop. Earlier this year, I picked up a dozen 5/8" aluminum cleats for (I think) $3-4 or so. That, and you won't be tempted to spend $50 on a Guinness-logo Rugby ball if you go to Sports Authority or WalMart, and where would be the fun in that?

As for cleats vs. spikes, I tend to prefer the soccer cleats for conditions around here in Northern Virginia/Maryland. With all the leaves on the ground and the heavy clay soils, spikes tend to become clogged with a big wad of stuff, while cleats tend to shed it a bit better, probably because they tear through leaves, rather than punching through (and holding on) the way spikes do. Your conditions may be different.

Cheers!
