I posted a while back about getting a custom SS Eurocross 525, and you had just received your Eurocross 525. Just curious if you got it together, and what you think of the ride. I'm hoping to order one in the next few weeks.

|Or maybe it's just that he's a hoss! I was the beneficiary of a lingering cold that laid him low- so only had to deal with him a couple of times during our cyclocross series here in St. Louis. Nice guy, just keeps hurting me tho.|

|Craig and Rich:
Congratulations, Rich, on your Missouri state CX championship! You are a deserving winner, having vanquished several formidable opponents. I wish I could have been there to get my clock cleaned, but my chest cold just keeps humming (and hacking) along. There's always next year! Thanks to you and your fellow St. Louisans for the great racing and cameraderie in the Gateway City. I look forward to next year's CX series.
Craig, my Steelman Eurocross 525 looks great in our spare bedroom (the Tangerine Sparkle powdercoat was definitely the right choice for me), but it's still just a bare frame. I'm awaiting a Ritchey stem that Brent Steelman is procuring for me. As often happens, one little thing keeps the whole project on hold. I'll make sure I post a review of the bike once it's put together and when I'm healthy enough to ride it outdoors. Thanks for asking.

|Thanks for the follow-up, Dale. I just sold my Surly Cross-check, and I'm having my riding partner double-check all of my measurements (using the info on Steelman's website) tonight. I'll be ordering my Eurocross 525 SS in the next week or two. Can't wait!
How long did it take you to get your frame? I'm expecting 6 weeks or so.
Did you get the mango, or persimmon sparkle? I'm going with the persimmon (although both colors are pretty sweet).

As the topic line indicates, I went with the persimmon sparkle powdercoat color for my EC 525. Brent and Katryn mailed me color swatches (short sections of powdercoated tubing), and that really helped. I narrowed it down to nickel, sky pearl, and persimmon sparkle, all of which I liked, and then made my final color choice. You also get to choose the decal colors (I went with bright blue), which gives you even more choices. To top it off, you get to choose all of your braze-ons and cable routing. It's as close to getting a custom frame as I need.
I recall that the time between ordering the frame and receiving it was less than 4 weeks, but it could have been shorter or longer. I'd have to check my records at home to be sure. I was impressed by how quickly everything got to me (except for that pesky stem!).
Glad you are getting a Steelman. I'm sure that we will both like our new bikes.
