1st Race Coming, a question(4 posts)

1st Race Coming, a questiontxcross
Dec 2, 2002 6:13 AM
I am riding in my first cross race this coming weekend. How exactly does the race work. I am racing in the beginner class and the time is 40 minutes. Suppose the winning rider finishes 8 laps, will I need to complete the same number or will I end the race after completing my last lap after 40 minutes?

Thanks in advance.

everybody finishes on the same lap as the winner, even if you are 1 or 2 laps down, you still finish on that lap. That's why you might see -1 or -2 in some results, to show that the rider finsihed but was 1 or 2 laps behind.

If you get lapped you will do one less. Have fun. It's the worst thing you'll ever love.

Sound like your question has been answered already, but I think the best piece of advice for getting ready for you first cross race is to practice dismounts and remounts if you haven't already done so.

With less than a week to go, there isn't any training that you can or should do that is going to increase your speed on the bike or on the runups, but you can loose alot of time on the trasnitions if you don't have them down.

Most of all have fun.

Good luck.
