Thoughts? And much thanks to the answers on my carbon fork question.

knowing what I know now, I'd go single ring for a race bike, 12-27 in back. I'm in the Midwest (ie, mostly flat). 42-12 can get you going pretty fast. of course, this is for a race bike. currently, my cross bike is my winter bike. I do make use of the big ring.
if you're commuting or doing trails, a triple is an option. for racing, no more than a double is required unless there are many heinously steep climbs where you race.
If I want to run Campy Centaur 10, are there any options . . .Look381i

other than single ring? Cyclocross World suggests that. I'll have 13-29 and 12-25 cassette choices.

running trails and commuting go triple. Double for hilly races. Single for flatter courses or you are an animal. Single go 42T with a 13-29, double 48x38 and a 13-26 (might have to go chorus )
or 13-29, will work for trails. I have a 48x36 12-30 that works quite well for trail riding as well as racing. Triple use the 12-25 with a 30-38-48
Whose chainrings are you using for those options?Look381i

I can't seem to find Campy 10 rings in other than 53,52, 42,39. Do other mfr's rings work well with the C10 chain? Do I need to modify a triple?
I think TA rings will fit the billKurt H

Check cyclocrossworld.com or peterwhitecycles.com (mostly a touring guy, but has a selection of TA rings for Campy). The only trouble will be with finding a 38 for a Campy inner. I think the bolt circle diameter (135 vs. Shimano's 130) prevents an inner double/middle triple ring smaller than 39 teeth.

can get middles in 38 or 39, I don't know about triples but you could just get a campy compat TA triple (peterwhite) or Rivendell. One of the finest cranks made
