Race #2 in the 7 race Ampitheater of Pain CX series was today, and it was great.

After a cold, rainy mud-fest last Sunday, we had a great 70 degrees and sunny race day, although the winds were VERY gusty. Riding into strong winds is about as bad as riding in deep mud. =)

In my first ever CX race last week, I DNF'ed after one lap. STOMACH CRAMPS. Ouch. I came back this week to score 10th place out of 17. I thought I did much worse, so I was pleased with 10th.

I apologize for not knowing hardly any names, but maybe someone from Memphis can follow me up on these.

I'm almost positive this is Dean Freeman, racing in the A's.

These guys seemed to trade places every lap. A race again.

Here they are again, at the top of a steep 5 barrier run up. The guy in the lead looks like he's having TONS of fun, huh? ;)

This is Jonathan Korzekwa, who did really well in last year's 3 race CX series. The aforementioned 5 barrier run up. A race.

those A racers sure make it look easy. still photos don't do justice to the grace with which these guys skim over the barriers as if they're a minor inconvenience. their dismounts look so fluid that it's poetic. and it doesn't even look like it hurt that much ;)
