First cross bike on its way, what else should I buy??daz I

I just made a down payment for a cross bike - Redline Conquest Pro. Bike will be used for mostly for endurance training/riding around, no racing - except against the clock. This is my first cross/road bike, I picked up a Cdale Lefty 800 in June.

I am taking the bike to Port Harcourt in Nigeria this Sunday. What should else should I get? My list has - multi tool, nike shoes -SPD, helmet, shorts, gloves, mini pump, spare tires-2. What is likely to break first/soon?

I will be doing ALL the repairs myself (Aided by Zinn) and part from generic scews and bolts, I probably wont get any parts where I stay.

The shop, in Houston-TX is asking $1299.99, is this a fair price?
sounds like you pretty much have it dialed, butrockbender

I would spend the $5 and get a good spoke wrench to take with you. Wheels can often be great right out of the box (depending on who built them), but can often need a bit of tweaking in the first couple hundered miles.

BTW, the price sounds about right (right around retail), and I am all for buying from the LBS if they treat you right. So you might pay a bit more than from mail order, but you will get a good fit and they should give you a discount on all the accessories you need to get set up.

have a good trip!

get about 10 extra tubes.
a big bottle of chain lube and a can/bottle of degreaser
some extra bar tape.
a rear fender to keep mud off your bum.
an extra chain or two.
a couple brake cables and derailleur cables.
grease gun and tube of grease for the hubs.
and say a prayer to the Madonna del Ghisallo for your safety on your journey!

You'll want to take extra parts,

tubes and patches
spokes/nipples
lube
chain tool

That'll probably get you by. $1300 sounds like a good price

Thanks all.

Will let you folks know how it works out when me, the bike, and parts all arrive in Port Harcourt (hopefully next week). Plan to post some pictures later in the month.

Going back to shop 2 moro to pick up parts and dissassemble bike.

Ohh, I am getting a Yakima roof rack from same shop.

Time pedals? I use SPDs on my mtbk and will buy SPD pedals for the conquest.
