Need recommendations for my first cross bike(7 posts)

Need recommendations for my first cross bike-twitch-
Nov 2, 2002 11:38 AM
My cross country bike was stolen about a month ago, and my commuter ('74 Peugeot, baby) was trashed when I was hit by an SUV about a week after that...I'm now without wheels, and looking to try something new. Cross looks intriguing, so I thought I might as well make my next bike a cross bike. I'm looking for something particularly light, that can compete with roadies on the pavement. Currently I'm looking at the Cannondale 'cross bike and the Redline Conquest/Conquest Pro. Any others I should take into suggestion? What would your recommendation be?

Thanks,

I love mine--just got it. It's so fine. Those guys really know how to build a bike in Waterford, WI. Buy American!

if it's light weight that you want, forget those steel & aluminum tugboats. a dragonfly cross from calfee is what you are looking for. setup with the right stuff, and some light aero carbon wheels it would go sub-18lbs or less.

I'm currently trying to sell my 2001 Trek XO-1. It's full Sora 8-speed but I upgraded to XT rear der., XT cassette and Rolf Vector Comp wheels. It's a 56cm. Looking for $600 for it, and it's only been ridden a few times. email me at robbz27@hotmail.com if you are interested.

Yeah...let's try 2002 for that XO-1. That's the one with round tubing, not tear-drop, and the black and blue graphics. Sorry, rough day at the office.
