I think the 2002 Appalachian frame was set up for disc brakes. The Appalachian seems to have been dropped from the 2003 lineup.

Normally, disc brake dropouts are these garish, post-apocalyptic looking things, but those I like. A lot.

Cheers!

That is pure art in metal. I'd love to go for something like that but first off it looks like one of those frames where if you have to ask the price.....

And secondly our exchange rate for Canadian $ is a little stupid these days. So it just adds too much to the OMG quotient....... :(

I went through a discussion with Sacha about a frame over the course of a couple weeks recently. USD cost for his basic CX frame/fork is $1,150 + $50 upcharge for the polished Vanilla disc drops. At the current US/CAD rate, that's pushing almost C$1,900. I decided that was reasonable but still a little too rich for me so passed.

Add a couple of Avid Road Discs and you're good to go. Our local Peformance store (Portland, OR) carries 'em, and I believe the price is $800-900.

Do you know if the hubs it comes with are disc compatible? I couldn't tell from the specs on their site.

A new wheelset + discs is gonna add up pretty quick.

I wish my Bianchi had discs though, with the rainy season close at hand.

The hubset on the standard K2 Enemy is NOT disc compatible. You'll need a new set of wheels for this one. I've looked at this one myself. I even went so far as to get a quote from Colorado Cyclist for XT hubs on Open Pro rims. They'll do it for about $250. Avid makes their mechanical in a road version now, which is way cool.
