|glad I'm not in the market for another bike. could do without the fork though. Like it better with the orange stickers, that green is sweet|

|While drooling profusely, I tried to check out the fork on Action Tec's website--looks like they apparently joined VooDoo and Ibis.|

|it's nice, but it's a $550 premium over the regular knobby x. i like the fact that it is claimed to be zero maintenance, though, since i'm a commuter and not a racer that constantly maintains and rebuilds.
by the way, that picture of the regular knobby x in chameleon powdercoat is a must see. i saw one in person at a bike shop and didn't think much of it until i wheeled it outside. it just comes alive in the sunlight! it is an added-cost option, but worth it.

|My head is spinning. I got a knobby from a dealer that went out of business (paid about half). Unfortunately bike arrived scratched and Kelly is repainting for me. I have to pay for a basic paint job, but they are letting me upgrade to a premium color for my trouble with the dealer, who packed like sh@t.
Kelly has been very nice through this and deserves none of the blame, trust me I'vs purposely left out a few details. Anyway, I thought I finally decided which color I wanted and now they spring the chameleon blue and orange crush (with sunburst paint on me). My wife won't look at anymore colors and thinks I'm a psycho.

|that's not my bike, the picture's from mtbr.com's coverage of interbike 2002. i was waiting for the show to see if anything new and interesting was being released before making a purchase. now i've got to decide between a gunnar crosshairs, kelly knobby x, and airborne carpe diem. it'll be a double though, no ss.|

|I don't know. I had a Kelly MTB a few years back and wasn't too impressed. The paint job was great but the brake studs were not brazed on straight! One sat 3mm higher than the other and the right side post was angled inward. For a $1000 frame I expect better quality control. I've seen a couple of other Kelly frames with similar problems. Most of these are from a couple years ago so hopefully Chris has since gone out and bought himself a better jig. Chris is a really nice guy and he definitely puts together some interesting bikes.|| |
