|Yeah I know this is the rbf, but it's good to have some views from more or less the same prospective.
I am looking for some strong and fairly light wheels for my XC (non disc). Anyone have any favourites?
The Mavic X-rides sort of seem to be the "K's of the MTB world" - anyone got any? Any other views?

|very biased opinion as I've got CCs on 3 bikes. they would fit the strong and light requirements. downside: proprietary parts. it's your call.|

|I've got a set of Shimano M535s, (the cheaper non disc model) and they are excellent. I bought a whole heap of spare spokes, being the sceptic that I was - but in a year of serious trail bashing I've only had to do a couple of minor retensions. I've heard of some troubles with the disc models, maybe because of the torsional forces associated with the disc brake, but the V brake models have proven themselves to me. And they are so cheap for what they are.|| |
