Better rim: Mavic Open Pro or Sun ME14A?Colin_S

Hi,

Assuming they are the same price, which is the better rim to go with? They are both very similar in profile and weight. Any poor experiences with either?

Thanks,
Colin S.

I've had three sets of open pros and i still swear by um. The open pros are a good all a round rim. Im using the 32H, using 14/15 spokes and 3x lacing. This wheelset deos duel duty. Theyve held up pretty well.

Im also using WTB 11.3 speedmasters rims for my dirt wheelset. Theyre nice in the dirt and not anymore cumbersome then the open pros on the road.

Would you recommend the Open Pros for dirt? I'm not very heavy (150#), but I am really a mountain biker, and not always the smoothest one.

Open Pros are plenty strong for the dirt. Also the WTB rims mentioned in the post above are another good dirt rim. Paul

Personally i like the WTB's additional width and how they spread (flatten) the tire out more.

The Open Pros work pretty good. hell ive ridden my open pros with slicks on singletrack without a hitch.
