|There are a few illegal/underground races in SF proper, but most sanctioned races are in the outlying areas, like the East Bay, Santa Cruz, Napa, and I think there's even one on the Peninsula this year. If there is an SF series, please let us know!
BTW, the first Sacramento race is this Sunday! Wooohhoooo!
The calendar can be found at www.ncnca.org.

|Officially there are no 'cross races in the city of SF. Unofficially there is the DFL Cross Dresser series (race in skirt and you don't have to pay) You can find out about them at http://www.churchofbike.com
The problem with having an official 'cross race in SF is in the permits. The Presidio is probably out for good. They held the Nationals there in 1999 and the environmentalists got their panties in a twist bit time claiming, amongst other things, that two days of racing did "irreperable damage to the Bay". That's right, 1,000 or so skinny little cyclists managed to permanently damage the hundreds of square miles of water known as the San Francisco Bay (who knew we wielded such powers!) They also found a dead bird near the race course and naturally this was also blamed on the cyclists. Needless to say the chances of seeing another officially sanctioned race in the Presidio are somewhere between 0 and 0.
The only other place to put on a serious cross race is Golden Gate Park. People have tried over the years to do bike races in the park but have never been able to get a permit from the city. Again, environmental damage is cited as the reason (never mind the damage done by thousands of people stomping on the grass at all the concerts held in the Park)
It's all a shame since either the Presidio or GG Park would make a fantastic venue for either a Nationals or even Worlds couse.
