|I love this sport. My club just moved the Saturday rides from the road to the trails. Cross time is upon us and this is the first sign. I've got some new rubber on the bike, I finally put on some quality brakes (I've been meaning to do that for 2 years) and my running legs are coming back.
Bring on the season. It's time to get my butt kicked.

|I did a 4.5 hour dirt ramble on Saturday which took in about 90% gravel / MUT / dirt roads / doubletrack / singletrack and included a 7-mile loop on a popular local MTB stash (Heil Ranch for those of you familiar with the area). My favorite is blowing past the dual suspension guys on the climb, which is roughly 3 miles long and fairly steep in parts. This was the first time I was able to "clean" the entire climb, woohoo!. The MTB trail was busy on Sat, so I got at least 3 or 4 exclamations of "Oh $%&* that's a ROAD bike!!". These guys never seem to learn :)
Here's a link to a fab article for all the like minded out there. For what it's worth, I agree with the author 100% about running, and my lack of skill thereof.

|It took awhile, but I've made the mental transformation back to dirt after a long road season. In the beginning of Sept I couldn't get used to riding my MTB or cross bike, but then something clicked mid-Sept and I've been having a blast. Last night I finally made it out to the RRV ride and had a blast tearing around the Morrison trails and frightening the after work mountain bikers. Didn't think I needed to practice running but we did two LONG run ups that freakin' HURT! But now that I recall, long runups always hurt no matter what.
Not going to Gunnison so I'll see you at Boulder Rez. Cross rules! I'm already looking into flights to Napa for CX Nats.

|living here in the land of endless summer I've been cxing all summer. I just mix it all up to keep it fresh. I have a trail behind my office and like LFR it's so fun to blow past MTBers with that shocked look ontheir face. Putting top mounts on right now so I can increase my descending speed.|| |
