Jamis Nova '01 or '02???weskimad

Mostly similar, but the '01 has a Cromoly Spinner fork and Mavic T221 w/Tiagra hubs, the '02 has a Kinesis Crosslight AL fork and Mavic MA3 w/Ritchey hubs. The '02 is a hundred bucks more. I'm approx 200 lb and will use the bike mostly for commuting. Is the '02 worth the money? Thanks

Based on color alone, I would get the '01

Otherwise 6 of one...

Have you ridden both? Which fork do you like the ride of? Spinner forks tend to be heavy and have an unimpressive ride. The kinesis fork is lighter and has a nice ride to it.
I haven't ridden bothweskimad

This would be an internet purchase, which is one reason I'd like some feedback. I haven't found a LBS nearby that even stocks a cyclecross, let alone Jamis. I loved the ride of my old Cernturion Ironman (tange #1 with a steel fork). It comes down to a $100 premium for the ritchey hubs and kineses fork.
get the '01 and invest in . . .Jakob

A can of Framesaver and a new powder coat. My mid-level Jamis MTB frame had super soft paint and it was chipped all over the place in about 5 months of moderate use. It was a frame from 2000, but if they still have paint that's that bad, I would get the cheaper one and repaint that bad boy. The '02 colors are actually not that bad in person. The photo on the site doesn't really do it justice, but I would still get the '01.

IMO: the upgrade in the fork ($124 aftermarket) and rims ($159 as a wheelset after market)are well worth justifying the $100 increase in price.
