Replacement frame decal sources?(13 posts)

Replacement frame decal sources?The Walrus
Sep 9, 2002 4:22 PM
The decals on my '99 VooDoo Wazoo are pretty badly thrashed--of course, this has no effect on the bike's performance, but it's pretty grim looking. Obviously, I won't be getting any replacements from VooDoo now, but I'm hoping someone might know where all the VooDoo stuff went when they folded.

I've also heard that some custom paint shops can do custom decal work--anyone have any recommendations?

Not many details, but check out this thread from MTBR/General a couple of days ago:

...I hope it still is true! Of course, there probably wouldn't be any more Joe Murray designs, which would sort of ruin it. But, if I could just get some decals from them...
Speaking of being back in business. . .Swobo?Jakob

they make good stuff, I need to replace my 2 wearing out fast jerseys. I heard that someone bought them out, Kelly or someone like that. It's been up like that for a long time though, I remember this rumour 6 months ago at least.
the rumor I heard was SantaCruzPauli

but ya never know. The site hasn't changed for a while. Spot (the singlespeed co.) is selling wool gear. Haven't seen it but I hear it's nice.
I heard the same thingKevin from WebCyclery

I heard Santa Cruz bought the rights to the name, but it could just be a rumor. I know that Salsa is offerring a cool short sleeve wool jersey, wool arm warmers and knee warmers. I love my Swobo stuff. Just wish I had more.

Santa Cruz did buy the Swobo name, check out Zoicflyweight

Santa Cruz did buy the Swobo name but no definite word on production.

For some nice looking stuff check out Zoic. They've got some really great wool/poly blend jerseys (the Headlands model)

Recently got the QBP winter catalog and Salsa has some nice looking wool stuff.

I recently picked up a Smartwool long sleeve base layer and it's fantastic though it lacks the pockets for cycling.

A teammate of mine just had a VooDoo repainted at "Cycles of Color" ( which was able to track down decals. Here's his reply to me:

"Mark Schiavone found some VooDoo decals. He also used a local sign shop guy for my DeRosa decals VERY impressive! This guy has an idea of possible sources for the Voodoo decals."

Ummmm, O.K....The Walrus

...what were these "possible sources", if one might ask?

I have no idea whatsoever -- but you might want to try an e-mail to Cycles of Color at the web address above. However it transpired, I know for a fact that they were able to score a set within the past three months for a teammate of mine. I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

I mean, what do I look like, Columbo? Hey... don't answer that...

Actually, I did e-mail him after posting the response above; seems his mailbox is full, and I got the message back... Oh, well--try again later.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!
