Pros / Cons?

Where does the "cons" come from in Bar Cons?

Does the cable route under the tape? Do bars come grooved down the length of the drops?

Pros: Lighter, cheaper, simpler (hence less prone to catastrophic failure), infinite adjustability for the front derailleur (and rear in friction mode) and bonus points for retrogrouch style.

Cons: Almost guaranteed to kneecap you at some point when you're out of the saddle. They're not as convenient.

I have no idea where the "cons" comes from; always wondered myself.

The cable does route under the tape, to the first bend; I've never seen a bar that was grooved to accomodate the cable, but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there.

cable routes to bend and then "moustaches" to the TT. Big Up on the Retrogrouch.

Well, that was simple enough, once someone spelled it out for me. No wonder I can't get hired for any of those analyst positions...

Thanx for straightening that out!
