|I think it's kinda wussy not to wanna get "more" dirty in a CX race, but I guess I can see their point as well. Being a top level athlete, you want to lessen your chances of getting hurt...
BTW, AWESOME screen name! I still remember the two page Hutch ad back in BMX Action with Mike D. and Woody Itson on the beach... Lavender and cherry red Trick Stars... Pink ACS Z-Rims... *sigh* Those were the days. ;o)

|I was at that race and raced it. The "mud run" section they wanted to add was IN the river at low tide. After a flat out grass section you come flying in to some sand/mud and have to dismount and then run in to the mud around a tree that was in the way with about a 2 foot wide section before you actually had to run in the water. Around the tree back up on the the fire road.
And the mud? You step in it and sink about 6 inches straight away. Sure, it would be fun but you'd end up having a lot of crashes and injuries in that section. Cycling shoes would be found washed down river when the tide rose.
Mud is mud but this was too dangerous to expect people to race through it.

|I was there also and we (the "B" field) took a lap before the start to look at it. It was silly and even the lowly B field refused to do it. It wasn't rideable at all, the approach was dangerous, and it was so soft and water-logged it would have literally taken your shoes right off as you sunk up to mid-calf with each step.|| |
