I've been tinkering with my old Stumpjumper, replacing old drivetrain components and putting skinny tires on it. I'm considering removing the long-neglected Manitou fork on it with a cross fork, perhaps a Surly 1X1.
Any thoughts on this and/or suggestions. I'm working on the beater/commuter/semi-xcross concept, meaning I want ugly and I want cheap. Also, am I correct in assuming that I'd be able to run the current V-brakes with a cross fork?

|Your still using 26" tires right? so youll have to use a rigid fork spec'd for 26" wheels otherwise the brake bosses wont line up. if you want cheap try bike man.|
