Dream cross "done" ...... :)JohnG

It seems like I ordered this frame a looooooong time ago but it's finally together. I've only had a very short ride on it so far but it seems to work just fine. I may have to fine tune the gearing but I won't know until I get it dirty.

54cm Colnago Dream Cross frame with steel cross fork
Record C10 ergo shifters
Record C10 53-39 crank ((perhaps a 48 or 49 BR in the future)
Centaur 111mm BB .... weighs a ton :(
13-39 C10 cassette
Tecktro mini-v's ..... oh, a bit grabby so far
Record Ti seat post
SI Trans-Am saddle.... my favorite
Shimano XTR top pull front der .... oh dear.... ;)
Chorus medium cage rear der
3T 199 42cm bars .... maybe too light for cross???
ITM Millinium 11cm stem..... 1 cm shorter than my RB.
Bonti WTB spd pedals
32 hole Chorus hubs with aerohead rims and 14 gauge spokes
Ritchey 32c pro cross tires

I will say the tires feel a bit hairball in fast road corners. That will get some getting used to. I'll try to get it dirty tomorrow but it's likely not going to happen due to other obligations (MB grand prix crit and a barbie afterwards).

I'm itchin to do some adventure rides up in the Santa Monica mountains. :) If anyone has some good routes let me know. I'll probably just go out and try everything I can find. This cross bike opens up a whole interesting "ride to trailhead" mode.

Have you noticed little tire clearance between the rear tire and ft. deraileur? A friend of mine had one and the only tires he could run were Vittoria Tigres. Michelins wouldn't fit, and neither would alot of tubulars, he ended up haveing one chainring up front and no der. Actually, I have two friends that have them and have that problem. Also, a 13-39?
I had no problems with clearance on mine.lonefrontranger

I think it might also depend on the size of front rings you are running. I use the XTR topswing and 46/36 rings. No clearance troubles here, even when I switched to a 50 for a gravel road race.

I've got plenty of derailleur clearance for the 32c Ritchey tires I'm using.

The 13-39 seems like a decent fit for this bike. I've got a half dozen C10 casettes so that's just the starting position.
