Montreal-area cyclocrossers?Velocipedio

Just wondering if there are other cyclocrossers out there in Montreal and whether any would like to get together.

I'm still working on technique -- I have the dismount nailed, but I get the mount wrong about half the time [ouch!] -- but I hope to race this fall/winter. The problem is that there really aren't a lot of races in the Montreal area, so I think I'll have to be heading out to Ontario, New England and upstate New York.

I have a couple of buddies who are into the sport, but I'm wondering if anyone out there would be interested in organizing a club or association to train and work on technique and to pool resources to get to races... and of course to just ride and get really filthy.

I'm in Ottawa and am in the middle of building up my singlespeed cross bike -- should be finished tomorrow. There are a couple cross races at Camp Fortune (30 minutes from Ottawa) and some locally that I am going to do. I race Expert/Elite XC MTB on my fully rigid singlespeed. I also commute to work, train and race on my fixed-gear/singlespeed road bike. As you can tell, I'm 100% singlespeed!

How is the riding around Montreal?

The riding around Montreal is pretty good -- at least it's better for 'cross than for MTB. Mount Royal is always a blast in the rain and snow, and there's a fair bit of parkland and Crown land down around the river. The racing scene just isn't here , though. I don't think there are any races planned for the immediate area and, if I'm not mistaken, the FSCQ is only planning four in Quebec. I suspect I'll be spending time in your neck of the woods, come fall.
