Salsa Bell Lap incompatible with top-mount brake levers?Star Fangled Nut

This seems strange to me since its advetised as a cyclocross bar. The front groove goes all the way to where the tubing gets thicker for the clamp so there is no place to mount them. Could this be a production error or are they all like this?

I am useing the Bell lap bars with the Paul levers. It is 26.0 at the stem which is more or less the standard and they fit fine. You mount them right at the bulge which is standard on most handlebars. It is a little thicker right at the center to fit the stem. I have even seen bars that use a sleeve there.

Paul levers must be different. These won't fit on the bulge. The grooves on the Salsa bar are unusually long. Too long. So much for being cyclocross compatible. They should remove the wording from their bars!

I have a pair of Empella Frog Legs levers mounted on my Bell Lap, right outside of the bulge. Do you have the Moto Ace Bell Lap? There are two versions of the bar. I am not sure if there are any differences in diameter though.

Is there a cable groove where they are mounted?
