|Well retired the trusty cross bike yesterday for the road. The cross bike served me well over the winter. I'm so glad I picked it up VS a trainer. I feel I'm 100% fitter starting out.
I do need to get used to a few things, my brakes are back to the normal way, no more frogglegs. You wouldn't believe how dependent I've become on them and back to riding on 150# 22mm tires is pretty rough at first.
See yah next fall.

|Mine's still out. The weather at this time of year is unpredictable enough that I like knowing I have a fat-tire bike that I can thrash offroad with in the rain. I don't like taking the roadie out in the rain, cleaning Campy 10 is too much of a pain to do that often.
Of course, I could just take out the MTB... but I've discovered that I enjoy the cross bike much, much more. MTBs, even my hardtail, seem so over-engineered to me these days.
Maybe I'll use the cross bike for a 24-hour race that I'm considering entering [as part of a team].
So... the cross season ain't over for me yet.

|I've seen many 'cross bikes at the adventure races I've been to/participated in. I'm sure it would only be a benifit for a 24 hour race. Especially since even a front shock on those race courses is a bit unnecessary and heavy. On less than technical single track, I sometimes wish I had a cross bike myself. I am currently looking to pick up a used frame to build up over the summer. Anyone have a small one (50-52cm) for sale??|

|I think the redline is a bit large for me. My road bike it 52, so I would really like to go a bit smaller for a cross bike. Thanks anyway.|

|have a good summer. Living here in San Diego, my rides are all by choice. I've been 1-2 days MTB, 1-2 Days cross, 3-4 road days to add to 5-6 days a week total. Going to ride my x bike as a commuter most of this Spring/Summer as I've found both trail and great mock grass crit terrain to mix with the pavement (it's 20 miles each way). It really helps me avoid burnout by mixing it up. Have had an injured shoulder and have been avoiding my MTB, took it out for the first time in a month on sunday. Fell in love all over. Take care Mackgoo and let me know if you wind up in San O', then you'll be forced to ride cx regardless of season.|| |
