i am fairly new to cycleing and i would like to purchase a cyclocross. i have searched around and found that cannondale offers most of want i want on a bike. i looked at the 2002 model, but after close research i found that they had downgraded a couple of components from shimano 105 to tiagra.
my question is, why would they do this in the first place, and if i were going to purchase a cannondale, should i consider the 2001 model instead?

since i do not know alot about this sport, i would also like to gain insight on any other bikes i might look at. my primary need for this bike is versitily, speed, and lightweight. i will be using the bike for commutung in savannah, GA, and will be using it for recreational purposes. i would love to hear your opinions concerning these questions.

thanks a lot- Rone

bought the frame set only (with the addition of a cannondale specific 5 degree drop stem) and then went shopping on-line for parts. Ended up building up w/ ultegra, XT, avid and mavic K elites for about fifty dollars more than the lesser components on the c'dale.

Do you know if it can take a 135mm mountain bike hub or must I use a 130mm road hub? Thanks!

cambriabike, abicibike, lickbikes, cyclocrossworld, etc. To answer the other question I believe it will only hold a road size hub. Some of these sites have crosskits. Cambria i know will cut and paste whatever you want and dont need.
