|I'm 5'6" with a barefoot inseam of 77.5cm (30.5") and a shoe inseam of 79.5cm (31.3"). My current road bike has a seat tube length of 50.5cm (c-c) [52.0cm (c-t)] with a 54.1cm top tube (c-c) and a standover height of ~78.1cm (30.75"). I'm using a 100 x 90 degree stem. |
What is typical top tube clearance?
What size (c-c) would you recommend?
What top tube length and stem length/rise would you recommend? Should I keep a similar saddle-to-bar reach?

|Standover should be between 28" and 29.5" plus or minus. You'll need the room as it helps in mounting / dismounting and will save you any undo pain in certain situations.
c-c recommendations woul be in the 48-49 cm range. It sounds small but the higher bb will make it feel larger. TT length (including stem) should be similar to road set-up maybe -1 to 2 cm (shorter) for dirt descending and go from a - to a + on stem height. 10 degrees is a good starting point. Stem length should be set to give you a "similar" cockpit to your roadie (see above)
