Winter play ground(10 posts)

Winter play groundmackgoo

I've been working nights so haven't gotten out the last week very much. So to get out I took my camera out for some easy ride through my play ground. What really got me thinking to do this was the questions that ask about the strength of a certain wheel. I've put close to 1000 miles over this circuit on 12 and 16 spoke Shamals, they haven't budged a bit out of true. I weigh about 155. So if you have the patience check it out and if your wondering about wheels definately check it out. There are a lot of pictures here and quite frankly if I were you I probably would glaze over after the first few, but then again you may not be me.

Actually the first few days of spring. But I was riding here all winter. This winter has been the greatest taking up this form of riding. I'm starting to like cruising at 20 Mph and feeling my tires start to drift some through a turn.

Good Pictures !
Not sure if you saw my follow up to your post on the general board - it moves so quick so here it is again.

I live by the old "Paperama"(off Pleasant st) which is now some storage place. Grew up in Marshfield, moved to Weymouth when I got maried, I head south along the water for longer rides into Plymouth,Plympton,Halifax...when the weather gets better.
Are you a member of MBRC ? I just joined this year - to get some group riding in when I can.
Do you ride for endurance or racing ?

HI, know I missed the last one. I was carrying on the conversation the morning after night shift, by the time I got up it had dropped of and I usually don't go looking, I'm trying to limit my time on this darn computer. I am not a member of any group I find it too hard to try to conform to anyon groups schedule. I ride every day but at my convenience. I ride to ride no special goal. I just like to ride, I ride hard for me that is and enjoy how it keeps me in shape. I regularly ride 50-60 miles averaging 18-19 Mph. I'm just an enthusiast in pretty good shape. I'm thinking about doing Mt Washington this year.
Some time when it gets warm we should try to hook up.

sounds cool, I find myself addicted to these boards at work, when its quiet. Then of course it caries over into the weekends. I to was always doing solo runs, but I am trying to decrease my time in centuries so I am going to do some speedwork and run the wompatuk training series, maybe do some other racing but I will see how it goes. I run about the same speed if not a little less.
Yeah I agree with you on the club comment, I tend to get out early in the morning so I don't feel like I wasted the whole day. But I figured that it was a good way to see what is going on in the area, and if possible fit in a couple of group rides.
Mt washington sounds like it would be tough, I heard they increased the cost of it as well. How are you going to train for such a climb around here ?

Like the comercial, just do it. I'm working on getting work to sponsor me and at least one other guy at work. The company likes to get their name out on occassion. I'm going to talk to them Monday. Well it's 60 degrees, I'm going to get a run in before dark. Just saw the Rookie. It was a really good movie.
Hey are you old enough to remember Bicycle Revival in Quincy? In the back alley behind Sears, I think it"s the Registry now.

I know where the registry is, but I never heard of that place, was it a bike shop ? when I was younger I always went Bikeway(Ripway) in Marshfield. What company do you work for ? Its good that your company is into doing a sponsorship deal. I am 36 so I know how much this area has changed especially down your way. I used to work in Duxbury for about three years at a environmental lab, that was a nice place to work! Are you going to do cyclo-cross races in the fall - it sounds like you would do well.
And you want to climb this ?????PatM
