A buddy of mine has a Litespeed carbon fork on his ride. Swears by it, but it must be pretty pricey.

The only pic that I have seen of the carbon fork that Lightspeed has on their Appalachian(sp?) looks to be a Winwood( also used by Bianchi). This fork is not expensive in relation to other carbon cross forks but it does ride nice.

Winwood and Wound Up are the only makers of Caron X-Forks I know. I think everything you see with other labels is from them.
Both run about $400 which is spendy. I'm a Clydedale so I'm weary of flex. I've heard nothing but good things about both but if you look at Video or Photo's from the worlds those guys are riding mostly Aluminum and Steel forks. I kinda trust the pro's on equipment choice, unless their sponsors prevent them from using aftermarket products they will use what works best.
What fork is the best???MEDINA

ok,I agree with you... the majority takes steel or aluminum forks.

but... that fork you consider that is the best one...

I'd say the Wound Up. They make a great line of forks and it's the model I see the most. Aegis, who makes a superswank carbon cross bike (Shaman) uses a wound up fork. I'd say that is a pretty good stamp of approval coming from a company that knows carbon. Let me know how it rides when you get it.

The Winwood is a relabeled version of the Sintema Muddy, probably made in Taiwan (as is almost everything carbon, despite what you may hear).
Take another look at the Worlds... you may be surprised at the # of Carbon Forks (good photos at Nijs and Declerq were both running carbon.. Proto Colnago for Nijs, and Alan for Deqlerq. Several of the Empella riders also had next years carbon Empella fork...

Yea I figured as much about the Winwood as you only see it OEM. I personally like the Alpha Q, I saw alot of them during this season and they are laid up by aerospace geeks here in Southern California (one of the benefits of our downsized military was a bunch of Carbon Geeks needing Jobs). Pontoni and a few of the Americans rode them this year. I still see a domination of metal forks though. Are the Empella's laid up in Europe? Asia? US? does anyone know?
Deqlerq's an Alan? Did they build them for Merckx?
His bike looks like a x modified TEAM SC which uses Carbon Chain Stays as well. Nijs had one of each (Steel, Carbon) we'll have to see what he rides next year. As technology improves we'll see more and more.

I have a wound-up carbon fork on my LS Appalachian and am real happy with it. It takes my 190# punishment just fine so far.

True Temper also makes the Alpha Q Carbon cross fork. It comes with either a carbon or titanium steerer. Runs about $500 U.S. and is being used on the pro circuit. There's another option.

True Temper Alpha Q Carbon looks veryyy good....:O

Yes and they have the race record and riders to prove it. So does Wound Up, but I like the Alpha Q more. I like they way they worked the head tube (I still think I'll get Titanium instead)

you spoil your bike like an only child. Congratulations.
If the fork is a he is the bike a she ?(considering how they fit)

I believe that this fork will look good on my Cannondale 2002. now I only needs to look for good brakes.
