Does anyone use platform pedals opposed to clipless? I've been having some trouble clipping out of my Time ATACs which resulted in a couple good wrecks. When I do clip out coming up to an obstacle my feet feel real unstable and I get worried about accidentally clipping back in during a dismount. Out trail riding I love the clipless but in races when someone in front of you bites it and you have a split second to run them over or dismount it can get scary.

I don't know anyone who rides clipless. I've seen photos of x-bikes with clipless pedals so it mustbe done. Keep the ATAC's and go to a grassy area and practice mounts, dismounts and fast exits. It usually is the problem that some riders just don't "practice" this aspect of the sport. It's not as fun as going on a ride but it is essential to good bike handling. What I do is when I finish a ride, I go to a park and practice dismounting and running and mounting. I've whacked my ankles with the pedals and had some near falls but I keep getting better at it. Hang in there and just keep at it. You may want to even practice in flats first.
