Race Face MTB cranks and STI(4 posts)

Race Face MTB cranks and STIStewart
Jan 9, 2002 12:39 PM
Would like to use Race Face Cranks with 44/34 TA rings (used previously with 8spd XT casette and derailers) on my cross bike with (ultegra/105) STI 9 speed units and derailers or Campagnolo 9 speed ergo. Anyone see any compatibilty problems with the required chain and these rings?

should be OK, I run Shimano chains on my Campy stuff sometimes. That's the oly issue I see, all the shifters etc. work independent of your cranks so you should be OK.
Is goodLeisure

Should be no problem; Raceface even has a cyclocross-specific Turbine double out if you're interested. Pretty sweet.

Just might work, but keep in mind that road front derailers are designed to work with larger chainrings, and are shaped to match those perfectly. Just like mtb derailers are designed for 42-48t. A mtb derailer probably would work better for your toothcount.
